Tasmania Devils Unveil Stunning New Playing Jumper (2026)

Bold claim: Tasmania’s new playing jumper isn’t just apparel—it marks a milestone as the Devils enter the VFL and VFLW for the first time. And this is where the story gets even more interesting: the design blends heritage with a forward-looking spirit, inviting fans to connect with both the club’s legacy and its future.

The Tasmania Devils have unveiled their inaugural playing jumper ahead of their VFL and VFLW campaigns this year. At the heart of the design is a striking Devils head, emblematic of strength and the Tasmanian identity that fuels the club.

Two horizontal stripes run across the jersey, symbolizing the club’s men’s and women’s teams, as well as the loyal members who back them in every match.

Inside the neckline, the words “Honouring The Map – Inspiring The Future” pay tribute to the traditional Tasmanian map that is a common motif on jumpers throughout the state’s AFL history. Notably, the actual map itself does not appear on the jumper.

Tasmania Football Club chief executive Brendon Gale described the launch as a landmark moment for the club. “We are looking forward to our men and women running out in this new kit that is a great blend of our past and our future,” he said. “We are thankful for the fan feedback in designing the strip.” He added that every element was thoughtfully chosen for its meaning to athletes and supporters alike.

Gale confirmed the jumper’s debut would come as the VFL and VFLW seasons begin in the coming weeks, noting that the club will showcase multiple guernseys throughout its journey, including a Foundation Jumper that accompanies this release.

The men’s team will wear the jumper in its first premiership match when they host Coburg at North Hobart Oval on March 21, marking the return of VFL football to Tasmania for the first time since 2008.

The women’s side opens its inaugural VFLW season on May 16 against the Casey Demons, also at North Hobart Oval.

This jumper is distinct from the AFL and AFLW guernseys, which will be revealed ahead of the Devils’ entries into those competitions in 2028. The club’s approach mixes respect for history with a clear eye on the future, inviting debate about how teams balance tradition with modern branding.
